TIA was formed in April 2018, after a dedicated group of people from Tipsasa, (Thermal Insulation Products and Systems Association) identified a need for training in the Insulation Industry. It was decided that in order for the Training to be meaningful, it had to be fully certified and qualified by Merseta, as well as the QCTO. This would allow a delegate to attain accredited certification, as well as allow the employee to be able to claim against the skills development fund.

TRAINING WILL COMPROMISE OF KNOWLEDGE MODULES WHICH WILL BE TAUGHT IN A CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
The training will compromise of Knowledge Modules which will be taught in a classroom environment by a skilled and trained Lecturer, as well as a practical component which will be presented in a fully functional and kitted out workshop. The candidate will then go back to his employee, where a log book will be issued, and logged hours will be converted to credits towards the course. The candidate will also be required to write and pass exams, which will be overseen by Merseta.

It was also clear that a career path for a delegate needed to be mapped out, as in all industries, certain skills are needed at different levels of operation, therefore the course caters for an introduction, right up to a Master technician level. As, this is the first qualification in our industry sector, it was also decided that it had to cater for delegates that have been working in this industry for a number of years, and therefore there are credits available for RPL (Recognised Prior Learning).
TIA is partnership between IPC industries and IRT Training, IPC Industries has been involved as a manufacturer and supplier of Insulation materials for over 25 years, and comes with a wealth of Insulation Application knowledge, as well as a good customer base in the Insulation sector. IPC was also heavily involved in the Qualification process, as well as assisting in developing the course material.
IRT Training was chosen as a partner, as they have been involved in training for a number of years, and also train people in the same industry, so this course will slot into their current curriculum. IRT Training also has state of the art facilities, as well as the needed skills to run and operate a Training Academy.
From the beginning, it was clear that there were two fundamental industry sectors that needed to be catered for, therefore there are two courses available:
