From the beginning, it was clear that there were two fundamental industry sectors that needed to be catered for: The Industrial Insulation Installer and the Building Insulation Installer.

It was further recognised that a clearly defined career pathway is essential to support the professional development and progression of individuals within the industry. As with any specialised sector, different levels of responsibility require progressively advanced knowledge, skills and competencies. The programme has therefore been structured to provide a progressive learning pathway, from introductory level through to Master Technician level.
As this represents the first formal qualification within our industry sector, particular consideration has also been given to experienced individuals who have acquired substantial knowledge and practical skills through many years of industry involvement. The qualification therefore provides for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), enabling eligible candidates to receive appropriate recognition and credits for demonstrated existing competencies.
TIA Southern Africa has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Thermal Insulation Products and Systems Association of South Africa (TIPSASA), establishing a collaborative framework aimed at advancing professional skills development, training standards and competency within the thermal insulation industry.
TIA Southern Africa is recognised as an accredited training provider with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO), providing industry-relevant training aligned with recognised occupational standards and qualification requirements.
Through its collaboration with TIPSASA and its QCTO accreditation, TIA Southern Africa is committed to delivering structured, high-quality training that combines theoretical knowledge with practical industry skills. The Academy provides learners with a recognised pathway for professional development while supporting the thermal insulation industry's broader objective of improving workmanship, competence and technical standards throughout Southern Africa.
